“Clary,” Jocelyn said. “I want you to meet Tessa Gray.”

Oh god, I’m sorry for the messy lines! I just wanted to vent out. I have never been this excited. Oh god, Cassie, you’re killing me. ; _ ; The month is too long.

Magnus. (From the Bane Chronicles written by cassandraclare, sarahreesbrennan and maureenjohnsonbooks)
I’ve been feeling a bit in a rut lately. Not that I haven’t had ideas on what to draw, or that I haven’t had the energy to draw. I have plenty of all that. But more like my art is beginning to all look the same. Usually it’s times like these that I am suddenly spurred to develop and get better. Because I don’t want my art to feel stagnant, or to get too comfortable with my work. So I sit down and collect the artwork of all my favorite artists together and stare at it and think “what is it about this person’s linework that I love so much?” Is it more variety in line weight? Am I attracted by the amount of hatching they use? Are their lines smoother or messier than mine that draws me to it so much? What do I need to play with in my own work to make it fresher to me? These are all things artists should think about sometimes. The changes in your work may end up very subtle, but it will feel so much more exciting to you to draw.

So, the nice version of the cover of City of Heavenly Fire that went up on TV yesterday!
Yes, that is Clary and Sebastian. Yes, Clary is wearing white. She does wear white in the book at a certain point. There are interesting details up close about both their weapons, and if you look closely you can see the chain of Clary’s necklace. Remember the covers of the books don’t use the runes from the Codex or that we saw in the movie. They are pretty designs, but they don’t mean anything.

Jem Carstairs from the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare"The curtains had been pulled back from one tall window, and pale silver light poured into the room like a rain of needles. In the square patch of moonlight before the window, someone was standing. A boy—he seemed too slight to be a grown man— with a violin propped against his shoulder. His cheek rested against the instrument, and the bow sawed back and forth over the strings, wringing notes out of it, notes as fine and perfect as anything Tessa had ever heard."
Made with watercolors. Next up is Tessa! (:
